  1. How do I adjust a Rotary Head?
Here are detailed instructions from Rain Bird, in PDF format:
    External Web Page http://rainbird.com/pdf/turf/man_5000_5000Plus_PRS.pdf

  2. How do I adjust a Spray Head?
A spray head will already have nozzle attached to it that will disperse the water in a set pattern so basically the only way to adjust it is to grab it by the neck party of the head and twist it to reach desired coverage. If the coverage is still not sufficient then the nozzle might need to be switched out, please call us so we can replace it.

  4. What is a Backflow Preventer?
A backflow preventer is a device that is required by the city to be installed with your sprinkler system. It is a copper and brass device that is typically located right outside your house that prevents any water that is in your sprinkler system from getting in to your main water source to your house.

  6. What do I do in case of a freeze and I have not had my system winterized or already started up my system?
First thing you should do is turn the water of to your system which is located where your main water line comes into the house which is usually in your crawl space or basement. Sometimes the shutoff valve may be located in a separate meter pit outside your house. If you cannot locate this valve there are two valves on your backflow preventer, turn both off by turning them a quarter turn so that they are perpendicular with the backflow preventer. The most important thing to do is to be sure to wrap your backflow preventer with a towel or blanket so that it will help prevent it from freezing.

  8. What do I do in case of a leak?
If the leak is only occurring when a certain zone or station is on, then just take the time of that particular zone or if you are not sure how to do that then just turn your controller off. If the leak is constantly leaking even when your system is not running then turn of the valves located on your backflow preventer. As soon as you do this then contact us and we will come out and fix the problem.

  10. How often should I water my lawn?
This all depends on the weather. In the spring months (April and May) typically 3 times a weak is enough, with 20-30 minutes on your rotary zones and 10-15 minutes on your spray zones. In the summer months, depending how dry it is you may need to water 5-7 times a week. The best time to water is early in the morning between 3:00 a.m. 6:00 a.m. If you know that is going to rain the following day you can either turn that day to off or turn the dial to off and just turn it back on when it is time to water again. Another factor to consider is soil types. Some soils may contain clay or sand in them, which in that case your lawn will require more water.
